Bill founded the Civic Canopy in 2003 to help communities transform individual efforts into collective action. With more than 20 years of experience, he works alongside leaders, coalitions, and public agencies to navigate complexity, align diverse stakeholders, and build the conditions for sustained collaboration and results. His work integrates facilitation, systems thinking, and leadership development to strengthen civic infrastructure and support communities in addressing complex challenges. On the Canopy team, Bill focuses on building the network of civic hubs across the state, leading individual projects, and supporting the leadership and development of teammates. Bill holds a BA in History from Brown University, an MA in Education from the University of Colorado Denver, and a PhD in Religion and Social Change from the University of Denver and Iliff School of Theology.
